WE WON!!!
Friday, July 15, 2008
Game One…WON - 18 - 5
Game Two...WON - 13 - 1
Going out in style…that’s what I mean! The Trinity Warriors played the best
two games of the season, walloping Beach Lawn Baptist, the second place team
in our division, 18 to 5 the first game and 13 to 1 in the last game.
Gotta love those Warriors!!!
So many good things happened, all at once, out there. We batted, we caught,
we ran, we made outstanding special plays. We even pitched two superb games!
We actually looked like a softball team…
Elizabeth, “Stretch,” Waller actually hit a triple! How amazing can you get.
This tiny mite was at her best. The smile never left her face as she helped
wallop the other team.
Ole,“Smoking,” Ron Girard was seen having a great time out there. His game
had greatly improved and he was out to make his presence know. Well done,
Mr. Smoke.
“Missile Mike,” Harrison was Mr. Home Run for these games. His last bat
drove in the two runs that ended the last game. Mr. Sneaky turned out to
be the one who let the water and ice out of the cooler just before the
end of the last game spoiling out chance to douse him with ice water
after the last win. We owe him one on that. I couldn’t figure why someone
keep letting the water out till I remembered to soak the coach…slow, but
I finally get it.
Jumping Jack “Flash”, Haga was in the last game and still has the foot
speed that made him infamous. This old one still has some gas…and I mean
he can really go. (Did I correct that?)
Gillian, “Toughie,” Duffy had one of her best games, also. Filling in for
the homebound Jeni Lighting, Harrison, Toughie got to work at catcher. Great
job Toughie, but you will have to fight Lightning for that spot next year.
Hum…cat fight!
The rain came again. Our Linda, “Rain,” Showers was playing up a storm.
The sky was clear, but there was rain on the field Power, might, and beauty…
who can ask for anything more? “Let it Rain girl!”
Jack, “Hooo-Whaa,” Waller was right at home with the jets screaming overhead.
The Marine reconnoitered and was at his best infield, where he ruled the dirt.
Rosie, “Daughter of Flash,” Morong was hitting her best and added greatly to
the wins with her RBI’s. Way to go dynamo!
Angie, “Ouch,” Sebree, did something that no one saw coming; she hit a double!!!
That’s right, two bases with one hit. This is a first for our Mz. Ouch, whose
war yell, “Auuuuuuuu,” gave way to a resounding, “Yipeee,” as her exhausted
feet crossed the home plate, time after time during both games.
James, “T.B.” Sebree, was at his best. Mr. Power was supreme at bat and in
the outfield. Though not feeling on top, he let loose his expertise and
played like a pro. Great job, Teddy Bear!
Alex, “Too Tall,” Best, also, was at his best. Mr. Grin and Smash was
treating each pitched ball as if it were a lemon and he wanted to make
juice out of it. Lotta lemonade that game! Way to go tall one.
Hats off to “Raging Ray” Williams for stepping aside so that some of the
newer players could play. “Mr. Team Spirit!”
“Mean Lean Bean,” Stueber, did a great job at bat and at third base. Mr.,
“Gallops Like A Giraffe,” was out to excel and he surely did. Great job ole
lean one.
“Iron Man,” Jack Sheets came out of semi-retirement to pitch the last game.
Mr. Rusty did a great job, although the game was delayed while the Umpire
had to check the medicine bag Mr. Arthritis had on him. It took time to
sort out the Ibuprophen, Ben Gay, Absorbine Jr., ice packs, and assorted
muscle creams, etc.
Faye, “Down Town Girl,” was awesome both games. Mz. Can Do got on base
after base and held down her bag at first with gusto. (When she is here,)
she shines. Love you lady.
Well…the season is now over and the games are history, but the spirit
lives on. Our Warriors, again, earned the respect of our fellowship
with their witness for Christ and their growing as a team and as fellow
workers for Christ.
Till next season, I remain, yours truly, 911, Reserve Extraordinary,
Lucian Thompson
