Lost First Game…Second Game Called For Rain

Friday, May 29, 2009

It’s not as bad as it seems. Yes, we lost but we were really rallying when the rain shut us down. The first 4 innings our Trinity Warriors looked more like the extras in “The Night Of The Dead.” Zombies had more life than our wilted warriors. But, at the end of the game it was as if they were zapped by the Energizer Bunny. They almost made up the deficit but alas time wasn’t on our side and the game ended in a 13 to 9 loss for us.

The second game started with Trinity up at bat but a few minutes into the start, the umpire called off the game due to a developing storm. Shame, cause we were on a roll. We were going to take them out for sure! (Out to dinner probably.)

So many people didn’t show up for the game that we were afraid we would have to put Trish and me in to make 5 ladies and 5 men. But alas we finally got enough players to send us back to the bench. Good thing because neither one of us could bend over must less run for any reason.(pheww)

Bless our Mz. Mom’s heart, Tina Stueber was suffering from the flu but she put it all on the line to make it through the game. Her tenacity and perseverance set the stage for our near comeback.

Her galloping hubby, Bob, Lean Bean, Stueber played third base well and did a good job of keeping Tina from upchucking. Much thanks for that!!! Wow!

Ole Missile Mike Harrison’s artillery was often errant but his pitching picked up at the last. It’s not his fault that the home plate keeps moving on him. Okayeeee…

A real bright spot was the great fielding exposition put on by our Mr. Fire Power, A J Decker. A J outdid himself catch after catch. Haven’t seen that good a fielding since Raging Ray and TB Sebree retired. (Forman did it, so can you two…get the idea?)

Smoking Ron Girad kept it real with his good, as usual, play. The coming storm didn’t faze him at all.

Four new ladies rounded out this meager turn out and keep us close with their fine action. They are: Linda Zippy Springer, our Mz. Excitement; Gillian Toughie Duffy who likes to dust the home plate with her low swings; Jennifer Crafty Milam, “stand still ball so I can hit ya”; and Rosie Moto Boat Decker, who can really pop one…right into someone’s glove, rats…

Last but not least our standout, Mike, Roughie Duffy who is our solid ground this year. Dirt Boy….HOME RUN!

Till next time, I remain, yours truly, 911, Reserve Extraordinary,

Lucian Thompson
